The Value of Locksmith Services

There are few things worse than coming home from work to find your home has been broken into. Sadly, this happened to me not long ago. My name is Jana, and I’m the single mother of two little girls. After reporting the burglary, a police officer suggested that I call a locksmith. The locksmith asked if I had any spare keys around the house that may have been stolen. Sure enough, I had some hanging on a key rack, and they were gone! I was worrying about jewelry and electronics; I never even thought to look for my keys. That night we replaced all my locks and rekeyed my car. To be extra safe, the locksmith made his next stop at my parents. (I had keys to their house on that key rack.) Locksmiths offer a valuable service; I’m happy to share why they're so great!

4 Tips For A Long-Distance Move

Moving across the country can be a challenge. The key to making this event less stressful is to plan ahead. There is a variety of things you can do that can decrease the stress of the move and allow you to get to where you need to be. Knowing specific tips for a long distance move can help you when you are facing this situation.

Tip #1: Drive your car

It is safer to drive your car rather than having it shipped when you are moving a long distance. The possibility of your car being lost, damaged, or stolen when having it transported by another company is much greater.

Tip #2: Purge

Take the time to go through all of the items in your home and consider what you can get rid of before moving. Do you need a new sofa? If so, reduce your moving load by donating the one you have to a local organization.

Additionally, consider cleaning out your closets and having a yard sale to avoid carrying things you won't use and to make some extra money, as well.

Tip #3:  Create a budget

The further that you move, the more it will cost you. Consider making a budget of what it will cost to relocate and the expense of the items listed below:

  1. The total cost for the moving company.
  2. The amount of accommodations if you're planning overnight stays.
  3. Gasoline expenses for driving your vehicle to a new location.
  4. Money you may need to buy meals while on the road for you and any family members, if necessary.

Tip #4: Prepare your pets

If you have pets that will be traveling with you, be sure to do the things listed below to make a long distance move easier for both you and the animals:

  1. Keep your pets inside the home a couple days before the move.
  2. Consider putting a microchip on your pet to help ensure a safe return to you if lost.
  3. Pack food and water for your pet to enjoy while on the road.
  4. Clean the carrier you are placing your pet in and add some toys for to keep the pet occupied during the move.

Finally, making your long distance move easier is possible by taking a little extra time and effort. Be sure to consult with the appropriate moving companies to assist you in this large endeavor and help to relocate you safely.
