The Value of Locksmith Services

There are few things worse than coming home from work to find your home has been broken into. Sadly, this happened to me not long ago. My name is Jana, and I’m the single mother of two little girls. After reporting the burglary, a police officer suggested that I call a locksmith. The locksmith asked if I had any spare keys around the house that may have been stolen. Sure enough, I had some hanging on a key rack, and they were gone! I was worrying about jewelry and electronics; I never even thought to look for my keys. That night we replaced all my locks and rekeyed my car. To be extra safe, the locksmith made his next stop at my parents. (I had keys to their house on that key rack.) Locksmiths offer a valuable service; I’m happy to share why they're so great!

Struggling With Carpet Stains After The Holidays? Follow These Tips To Get Cleaned Up!

The holidays are nearly over and now your house is a mess. In the aftermath of all that activity from house guests, you may notice one or two stains on your carpet that weren't there before. Knowing how to treat stains that have set in the carpet for a little while can help you keep your home looking its best for future visits from relatives and friends. The following steps can help.

Step 1: Make a mixture of detergent and water.

Your cleaning solution for this chore is going to be a mixture of dish washing detergent and cold water. Mix the detergent and water together in a bucket, then fill a second bucket with fresh cold water.

Step 2: Blot the stain starting from the outside to the inside.

Dip a clean, white rag in the detergent and water mixture. Wring out the rag so that it's damp but not dripping, then blot at the stain. Scrubbing at your old stain with a scrubber or a rag could tear or wear down the fibers, and could also force the stain deeper into the carpet.

Start blotting the stain from the outside, then move slowly toward the center of the stain as you continue to blot. Re-dampen the rag as necessary. Continue to blot at the stain and work from the outside to the inside until the stain is significantly faded.

Step 3: Rinse the area.

Dampen a second rag with the clean fresh water, then blot at the soapy part of the carpet to rinse the detergent from the fibers. Dip the rag back into the water to rinse the detergent from the rag, then continue to blot the carpet until the soap has been completely lifted out.

Step 4: Soak up any remaining stain with a paper towel.

Place a dry paper towel on the wet part of your carpet, then lay something heavy (like a hardcover book) on the former stain so that the water will soak into the paper towel. Leave the paper towel on the wet part of the carpet overnight to give the stain a chance to transfer from your carpet to the paper towel.

Repeat the steps above as necessary until the stain has been fully removed. If this doesn't work, this may be a good time to make an appointment with a house cleaning service. Not only can your chosen house cleaning service help clean the stains in your carpet, but your house cleaning service can also help clean the rest of the mess left by your holiday visitors.
