The Value of Locksmith Services

There are few things worse than coming home from work to find your home has been broken into. Sadly, this happened to me not long ago. My name is Jana, and I’m the single mother of two little girls. After reporting the burglary, a police officer suggested that I call a locksmith. The locksmith asked if I had any spare keys around the house that may have been stolen. Sure enough, I had some hanging on a key rack, and they were gone! I was worrying about jewelry and electronics; I never even thought to look for my keys. That night we replaced all my locks and rekeyed my car. To be extra safe, the locksmith made his next stop at my parents. (I had keys to their house on that key rack.) Locksmiths offer a valuable service; I’m happy to share why they're so great!

How To Get Your Loved One Bonded Out Of Jail

If you have a friend or a family member that was just arrested, you might already find yourself trying to figure out how you can get them out on bond. Being proactive is essential, but you will need to spend a little time reading through the tips found here:

You Have To First Wait For The Bond Hearing

The first time they will go before the judge will most likely be to determine if they are eligible to be released on bond. This may happen the same day they are arrested, but it might not happen until the following day. Then again, if it is the weekend and the courts are backed up, they might have to wait a few days before their bond hearing. Until that hearing is complete and a bond amount is approved, you can't do anything.

Gather Everything That's Required

Once you know the bond amount, you will want to get on the phone to schedule a meeting with a bondsman. Be sure to ask what you need to bring with you to that meeting, such as your identification, additional proof of address, cash, and possible collateral. The more prepared you are when you walk in for that meeting, the easier the entire process will be.

Be Ready To Cover The Bond Amount If The Defendant Runs

You are responsible for the entire amount of the bail bond if the defendant decides to take off, relocate out of state, and fails to appear in court. This is usually why collateral is asked for because the bondsman can use that to get their money back if you are not able to repay them in full and with cash. Since a lot of people do not have that kind of cash sitting in their bank, they would have to forfeit whatever they used as collateral.

Being equipped with the previously mentioned information will help you get your friend or family member bonded out of jail as soon as possible. While that is certainly not the end of the legal situation they found themselves in, it is a good way to start off. You want them to be home and not in jail waiting their day in court for many reasons. Being home will make it easier for them to work with their attorney and get their affairs in order, especially if they believe that there is a chance they could receive a guilty verdict.

For more information about bail bonds, contact a local company.
